Auckland Hub

I most enjoyed watching the kids grow in confidence and develop maturity amongst their peers, without them realising they were learning anything more than circus skills!” - Parent feedback from TAPAC classes

Circability Central in Tāmaki Makarau is the flagship hub of the Circability Trust.

Circability has provided social circus classes, activations and events for people of all ages, all abilities, and all cultures for over 10 years. Based in Victoria Park in central Auckland, we deliver 30+ classes per week, as well as Circability’s signature events such as Kanohi Kitea, Celebrate Together and the Youth Circus Festival.

Circability is located in the historic Campbell Free Kindergarten building in Victoria Park, central to Auckland CBD, Ponsonby, the Viaduct and Wynyard Quarter. The building houses our office and circus classroom, and is also used by acting classes and one-off events.

Bay of Plenty Hub

Celebrating our first year of transforming lives through the magic of social circus, Circability’s Bay of Plenty Hub (BOP Hub) is dedicated to promoting disability sports and fostering inclusivity within our community. Our programs empower individuals of all abilities, creating a vibrant space where everyone can shine.

We have proudly collaborated with Tauranga City Council on World Disability Day 2023 and are excited to contribute to the Summer Reading Program 2024. Our partnerships with Parafed and the Halberg Foundation have further strengthened our commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for people with disabilities.

Christchurch Hub

“We have a list of people in our services wanting to join in on this amazing experience with Circability. These sessions provide a safe space for our people to learn new experiences and express themselves through the specialist creations of circus arts.” - IDEA Services

Circability’s Christchurch Hub is the new kid on the block, and the farthest hub from the main office, located in Te Waipounamu. The Hub is managed by Flair McKay, who brings a wealth of event and community management and engagement experience; classes are run by five very talented tutors, including locally world-famous Mullet Man, Nathan Bronner.

While embedding Circability’s kaupapa of “all ages, all abilities, all cultures - better together” into our work, the Christchurch Hub has focused on several key areas, differentiating our work from other Hubs. The city has a rich and highly visible kaewa (homeless) community, and one of Flair’s passions is engagement with local kaewa to bring play and laughter into their lives through the tools of social circus. Support from Housing First Ōtautahi and the Christchurch City Council has enabled our inner-city activation sessions with kaewa.

Circability classes held in Ōtautahi:

  • Te Waka Unua Primary School - Bilingual

  • Little Owls Preschool

  • Waitaha School - Special Education School

  • Tētēkua Hub

  • Idea Services

  • Circus at The Commons

  • Friendship Link - Delta Community Trust - Day programme for adults with intellectual disabilities

  • Phillipstown Leisure Club - A weekly group for older people from the Phillipstown Community Hub.
